ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Conference on GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) is scheduled to take place in University of Science and Education - The Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG), Vietnam, 12-15 November 2016. GIS-IDEAS 2016 is being jointly organized by JVGC,HUMG and OCU. GIS-IDEAS 2016 is eight in the series of very successful GIS-IDEAS series of conferences. GIS-IDEAS in 2016 is a special milestone and is organized as at part of the 50th anniversary of its founding of HUMG. The JVGC community congratulates the HUMG for its stupendous achievements over the last 5 decades. GIS-IDEAS 2016 is proud to be part of the International Conference on Earth Sciences and Sustainable Geo-Resources Development(ESASGD 2016) being organized to commemorate this historic event.
The main theme of the GIS-IDEAS 2016 "Geoinformatics for Natural Resources, Hazards and Sustainability". Apart from Technical Sessions on Geoinformatics technologies and applications, Special sessions on following topics are also planned.

- Coastal Development Planning and Management
- Watershed Development Planning and Management
- Climate Change and Revitalization
- Area Informatics and Applications
- Urban Management and Smart Cities
- Visualization of Spatio-temporal Geoscientific Data
- Education, Capacity Building and Outreach
- Open Source, Open Standards and Open Data for Geoinformatics
The GISIDEAS 2016 will focus on application of GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS and Geoinformatics Education to address issues related to our natural, social and human environment. GIS-IDEAS 2016 not only aims to serve as a forum for scientific exchanges but also as a conduit for technology transfer through workshop sessions. Further, in order to promote a better understanding of local needs, field excursions and visits to scientific institutions in Vietnam are also being planned. The language of the conference will be English.
